#16 ranked Buffalo celebrates the end of the 2004-2005 season.
The University at Buffalo Men’s ice hockey team celebrated their annual banquet this past Wednesday in celebration of a successful season and to say goodbye to 4 seniors.
Seniors Bill Mosler, Kevin Muranyi, Sean Riley and Brent Murchie were all honored at the banquet in appreciation of the hard work and commitment to the team throughout their careers.
Individual awards for the 2004-2005 season were also given out and are as fallows:
Defensive rookie of the year: Brad Zwawa
Offensive rookie of the year: Howard Melcher
Defensive player of the year: John Czaplinski
Offensive player of the year: Sean Smith
Coaches Award (Leadership): Brent Murchie
Coaches Award (Dedication): Sean Riley
Coaches Award (Determination): Kevin Muranyi
Most Valuable Player: Bill Mosler
2004-2005 season notes:
UB finished with an overall record of 26-9-0 and a 25-6-0 regular season record finishing second overall in the ECHL (11-3)
The #16 ranking bid to the National Tournament in Chicago was the first for UB in the ACHA’s history.
UB went undefeated on home ice this season going an unprecedented 16-0 at the Amherst Pepsi center, also a first in UB’s team history.
Senior Captian Bill Molser Was named to the First team all ECHL and finished the season 4th overall in ACHA scoring with 77 points (40-37).
Other members of the ECHL first and second teams were Gary Codick (First team), John Czaplinski (First team), Adam Kohen (Second team). Howard Melcher was named ECHL rookie of the year.
