Buffalo falls to IUP at home

IUPs Joe Ford gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead when he scored his first goal of the game just 1:20 into the contest.

Pat Beyer scored the next two goals of the game giving Buffalo a 2-1 lead. Hawks rookie Jesse Kunkle tied the game 2-2 when he scored on a 4 on 3 power play.

Late in the second period, the Hawks took a 3-2 lead when Ben Robertson scored on a 5 on 3 power play. Buffalo would not give up. Timmy Newbold tied the game 3-3 with 1:31 lefft in the second.

Special teams again played a part in the Hawks third period. Charles Plinkie scored his first ever goal when he slid a shot past Buffalo's goalie with 13:28 left in the third. It was the Hawks second shorthanded goal of the weekend. Four minutes later, rookie Chase Keibler chipped a rebound in giving the Hawks a 5-3 lead. But, as was the case, at the end of the first and second, Buffalo continued to apply pressure and Jimmy Drabin cut the lead to 5-4 wit h 1:19 left in the game. Joe Ford's second of the game, an empty net short handed goal with twelve seconds left, finished off Buffalo giving the Crimson Hawks a 6-4 victory.

Buffalo takes on the University of Pittsburg on the road next Friday then travels to Duqesne Univ for a Saturday night road game before returning home to host Canisus College friday evening.
